The Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is seeking a Senior Manager of Finance and Administration as part of the Department’s business office team, help manage accounting duties and the financial health of the organization, and provide administrative support for Department staff. The ideal candidate brings the financial experience to successfully manage diverse activity across multiple funds programs and projects; a service-oriented approach; and the skills to support others with positivity and compassion. Primary responsibilities include:
• Budget monitoring of a $30M annual base budget, an annual capital budget, and one-time funds.
• Oversight of grant and contract administration.
• Management and monitoring of revenue generated at Vermont’s State Parks.
• Accounting duties including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, internal controls, and audit response.
• Supporting the business office team delivering high-quality financial and administrative service.
This position is considered Administrative Manager II within the states classification system. The position is $29.79/hr., starting at Step 1 rate, however, there is potential to be hired into a higher step depending on the individual’s education and experience.

Work is performed in a standard office setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree AND four (4) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.
OR
High school diploma AND six (6) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.
OR
Associate’s degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND four (4) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.
OR
One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Manager I with the State of Vermont.
NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative services includes those functions which keep the organization running or provide the resources for others to provide the programmatic work (e.g., accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management).
Special Requirements
For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
