Recruiter (University Recruiting Focus)

While we embrace work location and schedule flexibility, the responsibilities of this role necessitate hiring someone who lives within reasonable distance to be onsite in downtown Portland and several universities as needed. Provided you’re flexible for business needs, you can decide whether your regular work arrangement will be primarily remote, in-office, or hybrid. Relocation assistance may be available for those who wish to move to the Portland metro area. We are not sponsoring work visas or hiring internationally.

What will you do for us?

We’ll expect you to manage our campus recruiting efforts and provide administrative support for the team like scheduling interviews, sending offer letters, etc. While you’ll assist with experienced hiring, your primary focus will be taking ownership of everything involved in effective campus employment branding, talent attraction, and talent selection to ensure that we meet the firm’s hiring goals (both quantity and quality).

Our ideal candidate is proactive, an excellent communicator, embraces new tools/tech, and enjoys working with college students. They’ll have about 3 years of HR/recruiting experience that includes campus recruiting for a professional services firm. What’s in it for you?

You’ll be part of a three-person recruiting team, working with two badass ladies, Areena McLaughlin and Julie Brodell-Martin. Combined, we have nearly 20 years of public accounting recruiting experience. Each of us is intimately familiar with campus recruiting so you’ll have appropriate support, guidance, and empathy. We’ll invest in your learning and development, although we expect that you’re going to teach us a few new things. You’ll enjoy working at firm where everyone understands the value of recruiting and they pitch in to help.

You can hold your head up high when you’re recruiting for Perkins & Co! We are not your stereotypical public accounting firm. Per Portland Business Journal, we’re the Most Admired and the second most diverse accounting firm in Portland. Perkins is a great employer and leadership genuinely cares about employees. You don’t have to lie to people to sell them on a job, nor do you have to meet any ridiculous metrics like number of cold calls or employee retention. There’s no shady business here. Instead, we’ll provide you with the freedom and responsibility to ensure a positive candidate experience that demonstrates our core values. You must bring a sense of humor, including the ability to laugh at yourself.

Of course, all the warm fuzzies are meaningless if you can’t pay your bills, right? Perkins provides competitive benefits, great perks, and we’ve budgeted a salary range of $61K – $87K annually (exempt).

Are we singing your tune? Please apply today for consideration!

Don’t be afraid of the application. It’s not a tedious form; takes two minutes.

A cover letter is not required. Heck, a resume isn’t required if you have a good LinkedIn profile. However, if you include an explanation of what piqued your interest in this specific opportunity and how you believe you will add value to the team, we would appreciate it. Ok, so that’ll take more than two minutes, but there’s still no annoying application form.
