UNIT SPECIFIC JOB DETAILS
Officiate/Umpire Intramural Sports contests including:
• Fall – 7-on-7 Flag Football, Kickball, 3-on-3 Basketball, Indoor Volleyball, Indoor Soccer
• Spring – 5-on-5 Basketball, Softball, 4-on-4 Flag Football, Outdoor Soccer
• Summer – 5-on-5 Basketball, Softball, Indoor Soccer, Co-Rec Kickball
• Officials/Umpires are hired for specific sports and can be hired to work multiple sports
OR
Scorekeeper Intramural Sports contests include:
• Fall – Flag Football and Kickball
• Spring/Summer – 5-on-5 Basketball and Softball
RECSPORTS TEAM MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests
• Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of RecSports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere
• Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
• Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
• Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding RecSports facilities
• Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
• Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures
• All RecSports employees are expected to abide by the department-wide accountability process that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors
UNIT SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Official:
- Officiate sport contents by enforcing game rules.
Scorekeeper:
- Document score, game fouls, timeouts, and other general statistics to ensure equitable and fair play.
Expected Salary:
$12.00 – $12.50 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week and additional hours with an approved Hours Extension Form.
- University of Florida student
- Minimal experience required however a basic knowledge of sports is desired
- Training sessions are conducted to provide officials with officiating techniques
- Complete and maintain UF online certifications in GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimal experience required however a basic knowledge of sports is desired.
