JOB LOCATION:Walnut Creek YMCA (Colby Park) or Waukee YMCA
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Tuesdays at Waukee YMCA from 6-8p for 6 weeks (Sept. 5-Oct. 10)
Thursday at Colby Park from 6:30-8:30p for 6 weeks (Sept. 7-Oct. 12)
PAY RANGE: $12.00-$14.00/hour
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: August 16, 2023- Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Operating within the policies, procedures, and practices of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, this position is responsible for performing referee duties for assigned games.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Referee soccer games.
2. Enforce the rules and regulations of soccer.
3. Assist site supervisor in maintaining orderly and fun atmosphere for assigned game(s).
4. Maintain game records and information as directed by supervisor.
5. Ensure safety is a priority at all times.
6. Know all emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.
7. Complete accident/incident reports as necessary and submit to supervisor.
8. Report specific problems or needs to supervisor or designated staff person.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
10. Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
2. Previous experience with soccer
3. Knowledge of soccer rules and regulations
4. Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification OR equivalent – prior to starting.
5. Intro to Y’s Cause & Culture Online Course – prior to starting if hired.
6. Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate with people and monitor property and activity
2. Ability to perform strenuous physical activity
3. Ability to adapt to changing working conditions

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in indoor and outdoor oriented environments, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.
