Scope of Position
Regional Project Development Manager (Development Manager) is focused on driving the development of critical projects and mastering functional management techniques. The Development Manager will be responsible to serve as a phase leader for high value projects and to lead the development of a portfolio of projects. The Development Manager will be responsible for sharing knowledge and training junior team members by delegating tasks and discreet responsibilities as well as by active participation in group discussions. In addition, the Development Manager will have one or more direct reports and will be responsible for identifying development strengths and needs in those reports. The Development Manager will work to master functional management techniques such as crafting development plans and identifying activities to support the growth and development of direct reports. The Development Manager will lead resource allocation discussions to ensure the team resources are deployed to achieve the regional goals most effectively.
Responsibilities
Internal Development-Related Duties:
- Manage the overall lifecycle of a project including creating schedules, budgets and an overall deployment plan that matches regional goals
- Coordinate the design and implementation of land acquisition and community engagement plans with the Land & Community Engagement team
- Engage with internal subject matter experts to understand activities and timeframes required to meet project schedule
- Obtain approvals at key project commitment and milestone points and clearly and effectively elevate issues to regional leadership as necessary
External Development-Related Duties:
- Build relationships with key local stakeholders in the context of an overall community engagement plan
- Understand the timing and requirement of applicable permits and create and implement plans to obtain
- Manage, Coordinate and deploy 3rd party contractors for permitting and site related studies
- Leverage opportunities at industry tradeshows, conferences, and landowner and government meetings on behalf of EDFR to strengthen and capitalize on relationships with potential customers, financial and investment partners, and utilities
Functional Management and Leadership Duties:
- Provide direction and leadership to up to 3 direct reports
- Assess strengths, areas for development and professional goals for direct reports and collaborate on career development plans
- Lead resource allocation planning to achieve regional goals
- Serve as a Mentor to junior team members

Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience
- Minimum of 3 years handling project management energy related projects, permitting or real estate experience
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Business, Economics, Environmental Studies, Energy or Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience relevant to project development activities.
- Master’s degree in business or related field preferred
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong organizational communication and time management skills
- Ability to translate broad goals into clear, flexible action plans
- Thorough knowledge of renewable energy project development competencies and common issues
- Ability to independently negotiate and manage contracts
- Ability to craft clear communication to senior leaders when appropriate in a timely manner
- Strong personnel management skills
Working Conditions:
- Approximately 50% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project, MS Teams, etc.), telephones and general office equipment
- Approximately Up to 50% of the time is spent in the field meeting with project stakeholders, leading permitting activities, leading pre-capitalized project implementation, capitalized project implementation/ development as well as managing the assessment and pursuit of new business opportunities
Pay Range: $112,500 – $187,500
