Job Title: Regional Scout Department: Amateur Scouting Reports To: Director, Amateur Scouting Available Regions: NorCal/Oregon
Primary Objective: Responsible forsupporting and assisting the Assistant Director and/or Director of Amateur Scouting in all facets of player evaluation.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluate and report on all players in the assigned area.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive “Preference List” for the assigned area.
- Provide and present all relevant background information (interviews, character assessments, test applications, etc.) on prospects in the assigned area.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Mariners role system and apply it at all levels.
- File schedules for all schools/programs in the assigned area. Provide guidance and recommendation for incoming crosscheckers and other members of the scouting department.
- Provide prospect “follow reports” on prospects for upcoming draft classes.
- Author and provide reports, preferences and recommendations in all forms of player acquisition (Trade, Free Agency, Rule 5 Draft, Rule 4 Draft, 6-Year Free Agency, etc.).
- Special Assignment coverages as assigned by Assistant Director and/or Director, Amateur Scouting
- Evaluate all assigned coverages and players-of-interest
- Attend Regional Scouting meeting in advance of the annual June Draft. Provide detailed presentation of each prospect in the assigned area
- Regularly collaborate with scouting leadership in developing self-improvement plans in all areas, including goal planning and reviews
- Aid Pro Scouting Department when assigned
- Will perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Equivalent, relevant work experience would be considered in lieu of formal education.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience required. Previous amateur scouting experience required.

- Travel required
- Must Live within assigned region. Preferred Nor Cal/Oregon; Scout Lives in or near the Bay Area

The anticipated range of base compensation for this role is $66,000 – $67,000 annually.
