Job Duties
$7,500 Sign-On Bonus or $10,000 Student Loan Reimbursement for eligible employees
Provides quality professional health care to inmates and assist employees during emergency events
Leads and oversees the direction and supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses, CNAs, Registered Nurses, and RNCAs
Serves as a liaison between Operations at the institution and the Health Services Unit
Responsible for the continuous operation of medical services at the institution
If the facility does not meet the criteria for an RNC or there is no RNC/DON, the RNCB will be the designated Health Authority
Note: The hiring range for this position may include consideration of the work unit/location and salary offers may include a stipend directly associated with assignment to this work location.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Board of Nursing (or other states participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact)
Working experience as a supervisor or charge nurse
Knowledge of professional nursing principles and evidence-based practices, to include CQI, education/training requirements and patient safety
Knowledge of medication use, actions and side effects
Ability to effectively communicate, direct and delegate to others while maintaining the daily operations of the department
Skillful in organizing, planning and implementing policies and procedures
Working knowledge of principles and practices of professional nursing
Proficiency in standard computer applications, such as Microsoft Suite, Google Docs, etc.
Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire
