Job Description

Assists, provides information to and gathers registration information from patients and/or patient’s relatives to process/coordinate registration, scheduling and billing.

Job Responsibility

  • Functions as representative of hospital when assisting and providing information to patients and patients’ relatives.
    • Receives telephone calls; takes and transmits messages; answers routine inquiries and refers others to appropriate sources; confirms appointments.
  • Interviews patients to obtain and record pertinent financial and personal data.
    • Verifies patient eligibility; obtains appropriate identification (e.g., driver’s license, medical insurance cards) and necessary referrals; and updates information as appropriate.
  • Registers patients in appropriate computer system noting no-shows and cancellations.
    • Enters charge-information, closes out visits and schedules visits.
  • Performs a variety of duties to ensure the proper collection of financial data and payments.
    • Prepares itemized bill, advises patients of total charges and records payments.
    • Collects all appropriate co-payments at time of visit.
    • Completes and reconciles insurance claim forms/payments.
    • Verifies insurance coverage, etc with third party carriers.
  • Compiles a variety of bills, receipts, logs, credit card slips, etc.
    • Completes batch-summary sheet and batches documents for processing in a timely/accurate manner.
    • Tracks managed care referrals.
  • Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Prior customer service experience, required.
  • Data entry skills (80 keystrokes per minute), required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

The salary range for this position is $23.89-$25.22/hour
