The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firms books and records, and by contributing to firmwide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley’s various industry and government regulators and serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley’s various businesses and its senior management team.
Global Corporate Controllers (GCC) is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. GCC prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulator. For internal reporting, GCC along with Business Unit Controllers and Financial Planning and Analysis, summarizes, plans, and forecasts the organizations financial position, including income statement, balance sheet and analyses of future revenues, expenses, and earnings.
We are currently seeking a Director candidate to support a team in NY responsible for a number of key capital functions e.g. the optimal candidate should be highly motivated, energetic professional with a track in capital reporting including a good understanding of capital across the main trading products. The candidate should have 3+ years of experience working in Financial Services, with Basel capital expertise.
Responsibilities Include:
– Support the quarterly compliance external filings and reporting processes: FFIEC 101 / 102, Pillar 3, Y9C HC-R, Single Counterparty Credit Limits (SCCL) 2590, 10K / 10Q disclosures meeting
– Support the quarterly capital due diligence meetings with senior management and FRB
– Support the quarterly earnings release capital estimates across teams in Finance and Risk
– Support the monthly compliance reporting review and sign-off with Regulatory Controllers senior management
– Produce weekly and monthly firmwide reporting including Operating Committee and Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) material
– Support regulatory, external, and internal audit request
– Support the coordination of the annual Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR), Quarterly Stress Testing (QST) forecasting, Quantitative Impact Study (QIS) and self-assessment exercises, including presentation in the Basel Capital Steering Committee (BCSC) and other senior management forum
– Support the creation of a Compliance team calendar for Quarter-End Earnings exercise
– Support large transaction tracking, notification, and approval process as well as NPA review
– Perform capital impacts; i.e., LE capital, Basel IV, new Firm capital limit impact
– Support senior management from a capital SME (Subject Matter Expert) perspective i.e., corporate reporting, data analytics.
– Respond to ad-hoc request

– Qualified Financial Controller with 5-10 years of general financial controller experience
– Evidence of working closely with other Finance functions and an ability to develop good working relationships both locally and in other location
– Proven ability to initiate and enhance the control framework for Finance functions.
– Proven leadership ability in resolving issues and implementing initiative
– Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skill
– Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
– Ability to transform processes in order to drive efficiency and effectivene
– Advance Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint skills are required
– BASEL Capital calculation and / or reporting experience preferred
– BS/BA in Accounting or Finance is preferred

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
