Job Description:

The Regulatory Counsel role provides legal and regulatory advice to Chubb North America’s business lines, claims, and Legal & Compliance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Counsel business leadership on a wide range of insurance regulatory matters.
  • Effectively collaborate with all disciplines within the North America Legal & Compliance organization, including compliance, regulatory affairs, government affairs, and product line support services, in order to provide informed regulatory advice.
  • Provide regulatory advice and counsel to the NA claims organization.
  • Research and draft memoranda on relevant insurance legal and regulatory issues.
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory developments across the Company’s line of business.
  • Advise on regulatory matters pertaining to different insurance products and lines of business, including issues relating to product development and design.
  • Advise on the creation and implementation of compliance policy positions working closely with compliance team.
  • Work with internal clients on insurance regulatory examinations and inquiries.
  • Special projects as assigned by the North America General Counsel.

Qualifications:

  • 7 to 10 years of post-law school legal experience with insurance regulatory legal matters, preferably in a law firm or corporation.
  • Significant property or casualty insurance experience is a plus, including knowledge and expertise on state laws and regulations applicable to insurance, extensive research skills, experience dealing with insurance department exams and inquiries, & business counseling experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical acumen
  • An ability to offer advice on complex issues to business professionals at every level of the organization
  • Enthusiasm for working in a team-oriented, dynamic environment; ability to work independently with minimal supervision of day-to-day tasks while also appropriately identifying matters requiring escalation to management; and a strong service-oriented disposition including the ability to multi-task.

Education:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in at least one state.

The pay range for the role is $117,000 to $189,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
