SPECIAL NOTES:

This is an internal agency employment opportunity for current employees, including OPS, of the Department of Financial Services, the Office of Financial Regulation, and the Office of Insurance Regulation.

Applicants are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent

Preferencewill be given to applicants with a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferably with major course work in insurance or risk management.

Additional requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience using Microsoft Word.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience processing, reviewing and/or familiar with professional applications for licensure, registration, or insurance claims.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with Florida Statutes 626 and Florida Administrative Code 69B-211.042.

Preferencewill be given to applicants who have worked as an insurance representative, insurance agent or an insurance adjuster for an insurance agency or insurance company.

Additional preferencewill be given for the following:

  • Applicants who are fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Customer service experience

The starting salary for this position is $40,000.08 annually.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Florida Statutes, board and department rules governing licensure and regulation, and consumer protection.
  • Knowledge of educational programs.
  • Knowledge of techniques for handling complaints and dealing with the public.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, policies and procedures regarding licensure and regulation of professionals, and consumer protection.
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:

Prepares correspondence as necessary for processing applications or in response to requests from applicants, licensees, or other individuals regarding licensure requirements.

Analyzes education training required for pre-licensing requirements to qualify applicants for examinations as part of the license application process.

Conducts special reviews and evaluations of applications, with or without criminal history or administrative action, to determine eligibility for licensure in accordance with well-established and accepted practices as defined by Florida Statutes, rules, department policies, and procedures.

Conducts special analyzes of court documents and other legal documents related to criminal history and administrative action, then prepares summary reports noting a recommendation to grant with disciplinary action, or a denial of an application that includes reference between violation and Florida law as justification for the recommendation.

Provides the Bureau of Licensing’s management, Bureau of Investigations, and the Office of General Counsel an oral and/or written presentation, providing a recommendation regarding applications of a regulatory nature, i.e., with criminal history or administrative action.

Assists the Bureau and Division with issues resulting from denial of applications or disciplinary actions, including participating in informal or formal hearings when warranted.

Provides assistance and responds to Service Requests, as needed.

Accurately prepares and maintains the Hearing Requested, Denial Language, Settlement Stipulation, BOI Investigation, Crime Classification, NAIC Transaction Utility, CAU Service Request Response, Certified Mail, Resident Denial, Non-Resident Denial, Permanent Bar, Rescind Denial, Criminal Grants, Sealed/Expunged and Monthly Management spreadsheets.

Performs other related duties as required.
