The anticipated salary range for this role is between $122,000.00 and $170,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

SMBC is seeking a “Loans” product SME who focuses on conducting key product/transaction data attribute validation testing to ensure US Regulatory Reporting to various regulatory agencies are prepared timely, accurately and with complete appropriate data. This position reports to the department head of Regulatory Reporting Data Control and is responsible for data quality check and verification for especially product “Loans” and other financial products. This position performs proactive data quality testing by tracing or vouching the data element to original legal or transaction documents, and setting up/maintaining the data quality verification procedure using various applications (e.g. Microsoft applications, Alteryx, Power BI, SQL, etc) for financial regulatory reporting including, but not limited to FRY9C, FFIEC 009, FRY 15, FR2052a, FFIEC 002 and FFIEC 019 data as well as other financial regulatory reports data.

Role Objectives

  • Ensure data quality, especially for product “Loans” and other financial products for various financial regulatory reports.
  • Analyze, and establish an effective data quality rule, identify issues, and resolve data quality rule exceptions.
  • Perform data quality testing to validate data quality by reading, interpreting, and assessing the regulatory reporting instructions and announcement.
  • Perform assessments on data lineage, understand data transformation, and analyze the data quality issues root cause., and resolve issues.
  • Establish, enhance, and maintain various data quality policies, standards, and procedures for financial regulatory reporting data quality control for loans..
  • Enforce data standards to various business units or function areas.
  • Conduct various communications with various stakeholders and bring to the best practice for financial regulatory reporting high data quality.
  • Conduct regulatory reporting data quality validation related processes, such as regulatory reporting instruction change impact assessment, and/or new product launch assessment.
  • Educate and train staff members on sound data quality standards and control practice.

Qualifications and Skills

  • “Loans” product and accounting knowledge
  • Loans back office experience.
  • Familiar with major regulatory reports including, but not limited to FRY9C, FFEIC 009, FRY15, FR2052a, FFIEC002, FFIEC019 and other US regulatory reports.
  • Proficient IT skills with various Microsoft applications, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, or SQL, is a plus.
  • Ability of analyzing and assessing data attributes according to various regulatory agencies’ guidelines and instructions.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Motivated and proactive mind-set.
  • Knowledge of financial products.
  • Experience with external or internal audit, is a plus.
  • Work Experience: 7~10 years of specialized experience in Financial Service.
  • Experience in data quality, data validation, and data control of financial regulatory reporting
  • Required: BA/BS; Preferred: MA / MS / MBA
  • CPA is a plus
