Major Duties and Responsibilities
Reads, writes and speaks Spanish fluently in order to perform the following duties: Under general supervision, performs one or more of the following duties as a representative of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS): Services employer needs in the agricultural and non-agricultural industry either in-person at the employer or virtually (e.g., using personal computer selects and refers applicants for employment opportunities; refers job seekers to prospective employers); initiates employer contact via outreach, telephone and/or electronic mail; enters job orders using OhioMeansJobs.com, matches employer openings to job seekers based on need and skill requirements; tracks and enters appropriate placement information into Advancement through Resources, Information and Employment Services; records and maintains on-going account of service activities provided to employers on the appropriate screens in ARIES; assists employers to understand intent and scope of Office of Workforce Development (OWD) employment programs and services provided to employers and workers; facilitates employers’ ability to identify employment needs and staffing patterns using the Agricultural Recruitment System (ARS); facilitates employers’ understanding on OMJ Center services; provides technical assistance to employers regarding Labor Market Information and employment practices.
Delivers Migrant and Seasonal Farm Worker (MSFW) program services: refers applicants to support services (e.g., Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act [WIOA] programs; MSFW community partner organizations); assist job seekers in registration and development of employability plan to identify barriers to employment; (e.g. assists job seekers with finding full-time permanent employment opportunities); informs job seekers on labor market information and how to access employment opportunities using OhioMeansJobs.com and explore both agricultural and non- agriculture opportunities; contacts job seekers via in-person outreach, telephone and/or electronic mail, records and maintains on-going account of service activities provided to job seeker on appropriate screens in ARIES.
Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., directs customers to OhioMeansJobs.com and other MSFW services; participates as a partner in cross-training other partner agencies on ODJFS services and programs; generates reports manually and/or operates personal computer to generate reports as required by supervisor; participates in staff meetings, conferences and seminars; maintains records, logs and files).
Qualifications
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. Applicants must specifically identify how the required job qualifications are met in the Education and/or Work Experience – “Job Duties” Sections of the application.
To meet the minimum qualification for this position you have (2) options:
Option #1
Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages, and read, speak and write common English vocabulary and r ead, write and speak Spanish fluently AND (12) months training OR (12) months experience in office practices and procedures AND (3) months training OR (3) months experience in interviewing OR questioning customers to solicit pertinent information in order to provide certain services AND (3) months training OR (3) months experience in public relations/customer service AND demonstrate skill to type data accurately using personal computer keyboard with typing speed of 25 net words per minute AND demonstrate proficiency in using personal computer with windows application of 3.1 or equivalent AND must provide own transportation.
In addition to preceding, applicants for positions in telephone registration centers must demonstrate ability to respond effectively to continuous succession of timed telephone calls to gather information while simultaneously entering data into computer system using personal computer keyboard with windows application of 3.1 or equivalent.
