Responsibilities

This opening is for a software engineer position that focuses on enabling a new communications platform and providing that platform as an enterprise shared service. This position will drive the adoption of new communication design and development capabilities as Customer Communications modernizes its suite of tools. Team members have significant opportunities to improve the customer experience by enabling this new platform through reusable development and integration patterns that will be used to create communications for all lines of business.

In this role, competitive candidates will:

  • Utilize agile software development practices, data and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture
  • Participate in the full software development cycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset
  • Design, develop, test and support software in support of big data objectives
  • Possess an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product
  • Adopt Service Design, where appropriate, through architecture modularity to enable continuous delivery
  • Exhibit DevOps mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset

Qualifications

Competitive candidates must have the following skills/experience:

  • 2+ years of experience with composition software, such as OpenText Exstream (formerly known as HP Exstream) or Smart Communications
  • 2+ years of experience as a software engineer and communication development experience
  • 2+ years of object-oriented programming experience: Java, JavaScript and/or Python
  • Candidates will demonstrate having experience working in a positive teamwork approach
  • Proven ability to gather and analyze business and system requirements to create effective communication solutions
  • Thorough understanding of Unit Testing concepts, frameworks (Junit, Mockito, PowerMock), and test automation practices

Knowledge of:

  • Customer communication management (CCM) practices
  • Data structures (e.g. XSD and XML) and data merge practices
  • Working knowledge of source code repositories, such as GIT
  • Thorough understanding of Unit Testing concepts, frameworks (Junit, Mockito, PowerMock), and test automation practices
  • Prior object-oriented programming experience; experience with JavaScript or Python is a plus
