About the job:
The Rentals and Events Supervisor 1 manages the Rentals and Events department, implementing an effective and efficient reservation and permitting program for district facilities, including parks and indoor rental halls. Serves as the primary authority for all internal and external rentals and the lead point of contact for event organizers, vendors, and staff.
A day in the life:
- Manage all staff within the Rentals and Events Division, including Rental and Event Specialists and Customer Service Specialists
- Provide direction, leadership, and training to staff and volunteers.
- Oversee staff scheduling, time and attendance, including approval of leave requests and time entries.
- Clearly communicate any changes in program guidelines, procedures, or objectives to team members.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of rental and event programs to align with District goals.
- Coordinate the annual July 4th Pet Parade
- Monitor community needs and emerging trends in event management to adapt and innovate the division’s offerings.
- Lead contract management for the division.
- Cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships with event organizers, vendors, partners, and affiliate businesses to ensure seamless service delivery and foster long-term partnerships.
- Assist in the formulation of the division budget and manage expenses to ensure appropriate cost recovery levels.
- Make crucial decisions based on budgetary constraints and program requirements.
- Ensure the proper care, maintenance, and inventory of assigned equipment and facilities.
- Oversee the purchasing of supplies and equipment, and recommend major purchases to the Recreation Business Manager.
- Foster collaboration with other program areas, departments, and external organizations to enhance the reach and quality of district services.
- Respond to public inquiries, concerns, and complaints about program services, staff, or operations.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Contributes to a positive and constructive work environment.
- Mandatory reporter under Oregon law.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Requirements
What we’re looking for:
Strong Knowledge of:
- Principles, development, practices, implementation and evaluation in assigned program;
- Project management techniques and methods;

- Effective customer service best practices; and
- Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures for assigned program area.

- Demonstrate excellent planning, organization, problem solving, initiative, prioritization and conflict resolution skills;
- Manage a high volume of tasks at one time, including organizing and prioritizing own work and the work of others;

- Maintain working knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint and other computer programs as well as operating common office equipment.

- Work independently with minimum direction while also working as part of a team and collaborating with others; and
- Demonstrate a high attention to detail.
Required Experience & Training:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent two years of college coursework; AND
- Two (2) years of experience in area of responsibility and/or performing similar tasks; AND
- Two (2) years of team lead experience; OR
- Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training.
License and Certifications:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license.
- Some positions in this classification may be required to have basic first aid and CPR training and certification.
- Other specialty licenses and certifications may be required depending on program area of assignment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports directly to a Supervisor 3 or a Recreation Services Manager. Follows standard processes and procedures without supervision but confirms changes to standard practices and significant decision in advance.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Provides direction and supervision to staff which may include recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating and managing performance, developing goals, providing discipline, responding to grievances, and effectively recommending terminations responsibilities. May provide guidance and consultation to other District staff, contractors, and volunteers.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The following are working conditions, including environmental and physical demands, required for this classification.
- Work may be performed both in a traditional office environment, outdoors in varied weather conditions, or at a variety of community sites. Schedule is varied and may require some evening and weekend hours.

Salary Description
$28.46- $34.44 per hour
