Job duties:

  • The Program Coordinator II fulfills several growing needs within the Office of Communications and External Affairs. These areas include website content updates and newsletter creation needed to highlight announcements and program updates throughout the agency. In addition, this position helps to address continuing graphic design demands for a variety of projects. This position also provides additional help in video production, social media content, and event planning.

  • Responsible for the overall content management of the dss.sc.gov website. That includes all copy and text changes, updates, and day-to-day content maintenance to ensure the website is up to date to meet the needs of those we serve. Coordinates with the agency’s IT team on larger changes.

  • Responsible for writing and formatting the monthly external newsletter. The newsletter is largely compromised of material from the bi-weekly E-Blast with some original content.

  • Responsible for the creation of graphics as needed by the Office of Communications and External Affairs for the purpose of agency promotion of programs and administrative functions. Graphics needed include but are not limited to, infographics, backgrounds for agency videos, social media content, and promotional materials.

  • Shooting and editing video for agency projects as needed.

  • Coordinating with Constituent Services staff as needed.

  • Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duties/services as directed. Serves as a member of the agency’s ESF-15 team for disaster response.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Agency Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of professional experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, media arts, communications, advertising, creative writing, or related field.

A Master’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, media arts, communications, advertising, creative writing, or related field.

Must possess a valid driver’s license. Extensive knowledge of website design and function. Experience using is Umbraco strongly preferred. Experience with video cameras, lighting, and audio. Experience with video editing to include Edius. Extensive writing expertise. Ability to drive and accommodate travel, minimal lifting of campaign materials and displays. Adobe Creative Suite program exp. preferred.
