Research and Evaluation Assistant- Museums for All Impact Study
Wage: $15/hour
Shift: 20 hours/week, daytime hours

Summary:
This is a dual appointment position, meaning your time will be split between two roles:
75% Museums for All Impact Study – Research Assistant
This research and evaluation assistant position is funded for three years by an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) research grant. The grant will fund nation-wide research to understand the impact of the Museums for All program on participating museums and guests. Museums for All is a barrier-reducing initiative that allows individuals and families who qualify for WIC and SNAP benefits to attend Thanksgiving Point venues for free or at a significantly discounted rate. At Thanksgiving Point, the program supports our non-profit mandate to bring the joy of learning to life for ALL.
In the research assistant role, you will support research related to the IMLS Museums for All grant by using qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect, analyze, and report on Museums for All guest and host museum experiences.
25% Research and Evaluation – Team Member
As a member of the research and evaluation team, you play an important role in helping teams across campus understand and improve the guest experience – you give the guest a voice! In addition to your work on the Museums for All Impact Study, as Team Member you will support quantitative and qualitative research in the areas of program, event, and exhibit evaluation and research including conducting program and event surveys, timing and tracking observation studies, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with survey development and validation
- Assist with recruitment of museum partners
- Assist with collecting, analyzing, and reporting on qualitative and quantitative data.
- Use Qualtrics to send out and monitor surveys.
- Create Qualtrics dashboards and other reports to showcase survey results.
- Assist the MFA Impact Study Project Manager with application management, documenting and reporting project progress, and keeping minutes at meetings.
- Meet regularly with research team to report on survey completion rates, survey results, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Project management experience
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and reporting
- Understanding of the research process
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in museum learning, evaluation, and research
- Interest in visitor experience, evaluation, and research
- Experience with Qualtrics survey software or an equivalent platform.
Details:
- Reports to: Museums for All Project Coordinator / Project Manager
- This position is funded for up to three years. A three-year commitment is preferred but not required.
- This position is primarily located on-site, however, proposals for hybrid work arrangements will be considered
- The ideal candidate would be a museum enthusiast or emerging researcher looking to apply and develop their research and evaluation skills
