Candidates must have permanent status as Research Scientist 2 (SG-22), and be interested in transfer; OR possess a Bachelor’s degree and three years of professional research experience in the appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree in the appropriate field and two years of such experience, or a doctorate in the appropriate field.
Duties Description The Research Scientist will be in the Bureau of Behavioral Health Metrics and Evaluation and responsible for extracting and creating analytical data sets from large administrative data set, including but not limited to, the New York Medicaid and OASAS administrative databases. In addition, the candidate will undertake tasks required by the research team, including database management, programming, statistical analysis, and creating performance feedback systems.
Candidate for this position should be:
1. Proficient in the use of SAS, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau is desired.
2. Can organize, manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using descriptive statistics
3. Have Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. This means having the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
4. Skilled in presenting data visuals to wide audiences, especially those without a data background
5. Ability to understand, interpret, and critique empirical findings.

$77,600*- $98,252
*All new employees start at the hiring rate, unless they are transferring from another State position that would be eligible for a salary recalculation.
