We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist II to join our Responsible & OpenAI Research (ROAR) team within Azure Cognitive Services.
As a Research Scientist II, you will play a key role in advancing the field of R esponsible AI (Artificial Intelligence) to ensure safe releases of the rapidly advancing AI technolog ies, as well as to expand and enhance our Azure AI Content Safety Service.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Master’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of research experience in Computer Vision, Multimodal analysis , Deep Learning, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Publication(s) in conferences or journals in AI related fields, e.g., CVPR ( Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition ).
- Experience with algorithmic problem-solving & software development and e xperience with open-source tools such as PyTorch .
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools .
- Technical Skills: Experience with large-scale data processing, distributed computing, or cloud platforms.
- Research Experience: Demonstrated expertise in responsible AI and fairness considerations.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to support research advancements.
Applied Sciences IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.
