Research Technician – Dr. Lin – Cole Eye Institute

Responsibilities:

  • Performs laboratory techniques procedures required for experimental studies.
  • Performs technical lab duties as delegated by the Research Staff Supervisor related to the assigned project. Schedules and performs the various analysis needed to complete the project.
  • Assists with establishing and scheduling of various procedures and analysis.
  • Prepares reagents, purifies chemicals using chromatography, distillation, etc., identifies, separates and quantifies various substances.
  • Conducts tests and procedures utilizing various laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Accumulates data from analyses, prepares charts, graphs, statistical tables for presentation to Research Staff Supervisor for final analysis and preparation for publication, grant proposals and applications for research funds.
  • Potentially orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma Required. Associate’s degree in laboratory science field may offset one year of the work experience requirement. Bachelor’s degree may offset two years of the work experience requirement.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment..

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Dr. Lin’s Cole Eye Research lab is looking to add a Research Technician to the team. As a Tech you will, supervise a research lab on a daily basis, including space, equipment, personnel, and project management. Other job responsibilities include:
– Assisting staff investigator with experimental design and planning/developing technical aspects of research projects.
– Collecting, preparing and maintaining required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes and medical reports.
– Reporting and assisting with the management of protocol deviations, adverse events and other project-related issues.
– Breeding mice, experiment design, data analysis, lab ordering, and training research trainees and medical students.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $15.75

Maximum hourly: $21.65
