The Residential Care Provider monitors general resident activity to observe and report behavior/progress of individuals with severe developmental disabilities living in a group home or other community residential setting and provides individualized skills trainings according to residents’ needs.
Job Description:
- Assist individuals with Developmental Disabilities in basic daily living skills.
- Carry out a person-centered Individual Service Plan (ISP)
- Ensures individuals are dressed neatly and appropriately and are groomed at all times
- Assists and encourages individuals to care for immediate personal needs such as toileting, washing their hands, and eating
- Teaches individuals daily skills such as household chores, laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes, as appropriate according to their individual plan
- Transports individuals to work, day programs, doctor appointments, shopping, recreational activities
- Assist with scheduling medical appointments
- Assists in the implementation of individual and behavioral plans and provides feedback for plan goals
- Assists individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social and community activities based on their preferences and individualized treatment plans
- Assists and encourages individuals in the establishment of social networks
- Promotes participation and involvement in community outings
- Ensures each individual’s rights are protected
- Treats individuals with dignity and respect
- Maintains the residence in a clean and organized condition
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements/Competencies:
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens
- Must have valid Driver’s License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy
- Must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting)
- Requires TB Evaluation at pre-employment and annually
- Requires negative COVID test at employment
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
- Requires long periods of sitting/standing
- Must have the following technical skills – Word, Excel and Electronic Health Record (Care Logic)
- Must be willing to transport residents in company van
- Must demonstrate the ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients in a residential treatment setting
- Must be able to lift and carry groceries and supplies and move furniture for cleaning.
- Must be able to assist disabled individuals on/off vehicle and secure seatbelts.
- Must be able to use a gait belt and mechanical lift to lift and position individuals, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must have high school diploma or GED AND any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have valid Georgia Driver’s License, and a clean motor vehicle report.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with IDD population.
- Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.), Direct Support Professional (DSP), Direct Care Professional (DCP), and Patient Care Technicians (PCT) are highly encouraged to apply!
