Job Description

KIPP New Orleans Schools is seeking a passionate, talented, and dedicated part-time substitute teachers for the 2021-2022 academic year. The part-time substitute teacher is responsible for providing classroom coverage for a teacher who is absent. The part-time substitute teacher works the regular hours of the absent classroom teacher during his/her absence. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaches content and skills in subject area utilizing designated curriculum;
  • Execute lesson plans and supplementary materials provided upon arrival;
  • Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students;
  • Prepares report cards, keeps appropriate and accurate records to include attendance reports, interims, and other record-keeping activities as necessary under the supervision of the administrative team;
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment;
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students;
  • Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day;
  • Exemplify KIPP New Orleans Schools’ core values in all interactions with students and their families to demonstrate your commitment to students’ academic and behavioral success;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Belief in the mission and values of KIPP New Orleans Schools;
  • Two or more years of teaching experience (preferred); No certification is required but preference is given to those eligible for, or in possession of, appropriate Louisiana teaching certificate in the subject;
  • Possess familiarity with content area and strong classroom management skills;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective teaching;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school team, families and community members;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information

Substitute Teachers are part-time employees and are paid an hourly wage of $15.00/hour.
