Description

This full-time position is generally scheduled 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. The Revenue Division of Finance is hiring a full-time non-exempt Revenue Technician. We are seeking someone who is highly detailed and can help support a dynamic team. Position includes excellent benefits; please see the Benefits tab for details.

Hiring Range: $21.40 – $25.18/hourSalary Range: $21.40 – $28.96/hour

The incumbent performs complex support, technical accounting, and support work in the Revenue Division. Primary responsibilities include performing a variety of complex tasks of routine difficulty related to the City and County’s utility billing function and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

  • Speaks with customers on a multi-line phone and/or in person concerning utility installation, turn-ons, disconnections or changes in service.
  • Prepares weekly billing statements and miscellaneous accounts receivable billing. Prepares weekly delinquent notices, outbound delinquent call list and disconnection list for staff.
  • Receives and processes payments received in person as well as electronically. Prepares deposit

and maintains a cash bank for change.

  • Initiates work orders regarding high water consumption, rereads or short checks. Coordinates work with the Utility Division of Public Works.
  • Completes and processes forms such as requisitions, applications, vouchers and purchase orders.
  • Assists with data entry into Broomfield’s sales and property tax systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Training – High school graduate or GED equivalent; preferably with some coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, tax, or related business courses.

Experience – Two years of increasingly responsible bookkeeping, finance, or accounting staff support experience that demonstrates applicable organizational, office and computer skills to include some experience in billing and collection.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: – Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a safe driving record for continued employment. Applicants must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: typing test at 40 wpm, written evaluation, oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender check, and driving record check through DMV.

Working Conditions

The noise level in the environment is usually quiet. Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday. The employee will operate a motor vehicle while traveling between work locations and while running errands. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Physical demands are described as light (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Data entry and other tasks may require sitting at a computer for several hours. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
