Risk Manager, Selling Partner Risk – Special Projects & Investigations

Selling Partner Services WW (SPS) is responsible for creating a trustworthy shopping experience across Amazon stores worldwide by protecting customers, brands, selling partners and Amazon from fraud, counterfeit, and abuse as well as providing world-class support and building loyalty with Amazon’s millions of selling partners. The Special Projects and Investigations Team (SPI) within SPS protects Amazon customers and stores by launching investigative projects and detection mechanisms aligned to the seller journey to deep dive key events within the bad actor lifecycle to detect abuse at the earliest point and close the gap for bad actors. To achieve this, we are looking for an experienced Risk Manager with background in risk, digital fraud, or compliance to manage critical and high impact investigations and decisions. The ideal candidate should be passionate about helping us ensure that customers may make great purchase decisions and that brand owners and sellers using Amazon are successful listing and selling their products. Your decisions are not only fundamental to helping protect customers and sellers but will help maintain the health of the Amazon catalog and systems.

Key job responsibilities

– The ideal candidate has a proven track record setting program strategy to deliver results.

– Lead and support teams in responding to, investigating, managing and resolving high-impact incidents and escalations around product authenticity (counterfeit, trademark, copyright) and safety issues.

– Use high-level judgment to own our most complex enforcement decisions.

– Analyze large datasets to identify anomalies and trends that can be used to identify abuse at scale

– Own and/or manage projects designed to improve operational and process efficiency. This will include accessing and analyzing data and working with partner teams.

– Closely monitor media and global events to anticipate and mitigate potential risks. Be comfortable using data to analyze trends, predict and fix problems before they happen.

A day in the life

This role is focused on the identification and enforcement of bad actors. Each day is different as new behaviors and trends are constantly discovered. You are on the front lines of protecting Amazon customers and stopping abuse in our stores.

About the team

Our team is comprised of experts in the risk domains like fraud, cybersecurity, data security, internal risk, threat intelligence, regulatory compliance etc. with data analysis and/or technical skills. We complement specialized industry skills with broad risk experiences gathered through years of experience to deliver results – we wear a lot of hats and do things ourselves whenever possible. We speak 7 languages, write code in 3 (mostly self taught, on the job), and celebrate learning and taking risks. We make mistakes, learn from them, and support each other.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– At least 2-5 years of relevant industry experience in risk or fraud investigations, regulatory compliance, ecommerce, analytics, or security

– Bachelor’s degree

– Proven ability to make quick, accurate decisions and deliver results on complex projects across multiple teams

– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– High level of integrity and discretion to handle confidential information

– Strong enthusiasm to provide superb customer service to executive leadership and other key stakeholders

– Proven ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situation

– Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases

– Multi-language skills in Japanese, Arabic, German, Italian, Spanish, French, or other non-English languages are a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $59,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
