This position assists in the management and daily operations of the Peach Road Cultural Center and the Cultural Outreach and Enrichment (COE) Program, and aids in the development, coordination, and delivery of cultural and recreational programming. The Cultural Programs Assistant will support the COE Program in its mission to invite people of all ages to discover the ethnic and cultural richness of the community through programs and services that connect people in an open and welcoming environment. This position is considered essential staff and will have both internal and external-facing responsibilities as well as flexibility to work during the evening and weekends as required.

This role works 25 hours per week as a Permanent Part-Time position and contributes to the Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System (LGERS) at a 6% employee contribution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and implements programs, events, and activities that focus on multi-culturalism, equity and inclusion, and recreation
  • Responds to customer service inquiries and concerns and assist patrons in person, by email, or over the phone
  • Develops and executes age appropriate recreational and cultural lesson plans and itineraries
  • Plans and delivers youth cultural and recreational activities and lesson plans for summer camps or futsal camps
  • Assists with facility maintenance and adhere with safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Performs administrative management tasks such as program registrations and the maintenance of facility and program related files and documents
  • Prepares outreach materials, press releases, newsletters, educational handouts, and other marketing materials
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with staff at program sites
  • Completes mandatory training

Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a customer service or recreation setting
  • Experience in program management, youth recreation, and working with diverse communities
  • Bilingualism in English and Spanish
