This position is located in Edmond/North OKC
The Rolling Mill Operator is responsible for safely feeding/receiving strip material in to or out of a rolling mill. The operator is also responsible for controlling the gauge thickness of the material to maintain the correct parameters of the finished product. This operation requires the employee to constantly lift 35lb of strip material.
A Day in the Life of a Rolling Mill Operator:
- Setup and operate the rolling mill to reduce or form metals into specified dimensions
- Adjust rollers, buffs, and guides according to size and dimensions of workpiece using allotted tools
- Regulate flow, temperature, and solution of roll lubricants and metal coolants with valves and gauges
- Start entry or roll-off tables that feed metal to and from rolls
- Thread sheet or rod through rolls for further reduction
- Control speed of rolling mill and roll tables to synchronize flow of metal with tandem operations
- Measure width and gauge of rolled metal with micrometers and similar instruments and adjust rolls to form metal to specifications
- Observe rolling operation to detect curling, splitting, or buckling of metal
- Change rolls on rolling machine when necessary
- Other duties as necessary

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in a production environment is preferred
- Experience operating a rolling mill or operating similar machinery is preferred
Computer Skills: Basic use of Microsoft Office preferred
Other beneficial qualifications:
- Knowledge of safe workplace practices in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Requires strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or on a team
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
