DESCRIPTION
Strategic Analytics & Intelligence (SAI) provides strategic advisory, business guidance, and decision support to senior leadership in Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG). We do this by partnering across the organization to address complex challenges in the healthcare landscape.

Within SAI, the Field Analytics and Insights (FAI) team helps Genentech to deliver benefit to patients by partnering with field-based teams and the functions that support them. FAI enables field-based teams with the analytics, insights, systems, and tools they need to effectively prioritize, plan, and manage market and customer activities across the customer spectrum and life-cycle of our products. Genentech meets customer needs by deploying field-based teams that are geographically organized into self-contained, localized healthcare Ecosystems.
The Ecosystem Insights Lead (EIL) supports one or more field-based healthcare Ecosystem Leadership Teams by providing deep analytics and insights to make effective subnational market and customer decisions. The EIL does this by providing Ecosystem subject matter expertise, generating business analytics and insights, and influencing localized strategy and tactics.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a deep understanding of patients, other customers, and market dynamics, and deliver insights that help the organization drive patient impact.
- Help stakeholders define clear, impactful business priorities, and develop action plans.
- Lead business analytics, generate actionable insights, and provide decision support to the Leadership Team(s) in your assigned healthcare Ecosystem(s).
- Partner closely with your Ecosystem Leadership Team(s) to influence localized field strategy and tactics.
- Assess and evaluate the local healthcare dynamics within your Ecosystem(s) and provide recommendations for how to better reach and serve customers. Examples include: Account Analysis, Market Landscape Assessments, Customer Targeting, Revenue Variance Analysis, Portfolio Optimization, and Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews
- Collaborate within cross-functional teams to develop solutions.
- Provide an objective, holistic point of view; effectively weigh and communicate trade-off considerations.
- Take an enterprise mindset, linking individual responsibilities with broader organization; focus on outcomes that provide most business and patient value.
- Act as a thought partner and advisor to all relevant teams and stakeholders; look for and establish opportunities for peer mentorship.
WHO YOU ARE
Ecosystem Insights Lead
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline AND
- 5+ years of relevant work experience OR
- An equivalent mix of education and work experience is required
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $123,000 – $228,400.
Senior Ecosystem Insights Lead
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline AND
- 7+ years of relevant work experience OR
- An equivalent mix of education and work experience is required
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $144,300 – $268,100.
Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with or working knowledge of Managed Care, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), and Health Systems.
- Holistic understanding of the dynamics between healthcare stakeholders: patients, providers, payors, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
- Experience with analytical tools (e.g., Python, SQL, R, etc.) and BI / reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik).
- Experience translating research or analysis to concise, compelling business stories that influence decisions and strategy.
- Experience acting as a strategic thought partner to teams; Demonstrated ability to problem solve and think outside the box.
- Proven track record of leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork.
- Expertise in standard analysis and presentation software (Excel, PowerPoint, gSuite).
- Persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Business travel is required.
