Overview
The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for planning and implementing sales and marketing strategies, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
This role will pay a salary of $45,000 to $60,000.

Responsibilities
- Represent the facility to all potential facility users
- Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in developing strategies to attract new markets and facility users
- Create and execute strategy to develop assign market segments and event types
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the local CVB, area hotels, facility staff, service providers and facility users
- Work cooperatively with the CVB in meeting the needs of both tentative and confirmed facility users
- Respond to inquiries by prospective and confirmed facility users regarding rental rates and space availability for the facility
- Investigate available dates and compatible spaces for new and repeat facility users, suggesting alternate dates when necessary
- Conduct facility tours and make formal presentations to convention and exhibition managers and other facility users regarding facility booking policies, rental rates, services and operational policies
- Screen facility use applications and other documents for compliance with established policies and procedures and best practices for the DCC
- Conduct background checks on prospective events
- Prepare written facility use proposals and cost estimates for potential facility users; reevaluate potential business value of various events and facility users; initiate booking discussions; finalize all booking arrangements
- Prepare event license agreements and addenda; consult with the Director of Sales & Marketing regarding specific language issues; prepare related correspondence to facility users
- Interpret and explain convention center booking and scheduling policies and procedures
- Assist facility users in finalizing booking arrangements
- Enter and maintain facility user contact information and booking information into computerized event booking and management system; update as necessary
- Provide information to and relay information between other facility departments involved in servicing events
- Assist facility users and event managers with planning events
- Participate in the development of newsletters and other marketing materials as directed
- Prepare various reports on operations and activities
- As assigned, conduct a variety of industry related studies and recommend modifications to departmental service delivery methods and operational policies and procedures as appropriate
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
- Travel to and represent the facility at various industry events
- Track event progress in event booking & management program
- Assists the Director of Sales & Marketing with the creation, development, and implementation of the GCC Sales and Marketing Plan to create local, regional, and national awareness of the facility.
- Create an Annual Report; including design and collection of content from DCC leadership.
- Utilizes sales and marketing principles to promote the venue and remains current with emerging marketing trends, tactics, strategies and technologies.
- Maintains facility’s website and creates and maintains editorial, blog, and news of the GCC.
- Assist the General Manager in communications as needed during an emergency
- Create, develop, and implement a Social Media Strategy; including creation of compelling content that is timely and on brand.
- Responsible for the creation of facility ads both for print and digital.
- Develop database through acquisition and lead generation.
- Create, develop, and manage content of the DCC digital signage system including sponsorship packages.
- Manage digital advertising, including LinkedIn advertising, promoted tweets, Facebook/Instagram promoted posts and ads, YouTube video ads, Google Search Ads (SEM); optimize social media & digital buys for optimal results, audience targeting, higher engagement, website traffic and goal conversions.
- Monitors, analyzes data, and creates management reports and detailed evaluations of marketing strategies.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years sales experience, preferably with an arena, convention center, hotel or other similar public assembly facility and including some supervisory responsibility
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in sales, marketing, public relations, business administration, hospitality management or another related field
- Additional years of experience may be substituted for formal education
- Working knowledge of Ungerboeck software systems
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation or graduation form IAVM’s Venue Management School, desired
- Strong management, motivational & organizational skills required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language required
- Knowledge of Public relations
- Willingness to work the hours necessary/permitted by your supervisor to meet sales goals (includes nights, weekends and select holidays, in addition to traditional business hours)
- Strong computer skills including Internet and MS Office applications
- Knowledge of marketing and advertising/sponsorship program development
