Overview

The Sales Manager will assist the Director of Sales & Marketing with bookings and assisting in supplementing booking activity with short-term tradeshows, consumer shows, and some local events. Service and contract prospective and confirmed clients and facilitate transition of clients from sales to event planning.

This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $70,000.

About the Venue

This position is based at our Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD). KBHCCD is one of the largest convention centers in the nation. Every year it welcomes over a million visitors attending major national and international conventions, meetings, concerts, athletic competitions, auto shows, and more. Located in the heart of downtown Dallas, the KBHCCD has been and continues to be a fixture in the Dallas skyline offering 1 million square feet of exhibit space, three ballrooms, 88 meeting rooms, 1,750-seat theater, and a 9,816-seat arena. The award-winning facility is connected to a 1,001-room hotel via a skybridge and is adjacent to two Vertiport landing pads. Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director of Sales & Marketing with follow-up of leads and sales functions such as sales blitzes, fam trips, visits, etc.
  • Handles telephone inquiries and follow-up with availability and pricing information.
  • Performs site visits.
  • Handles written correspondence to prospects and customers, including sales proposals.
  • Uses Sales and Marketing principles to promote the facility.
  • Quotes rates and assists with formal license agreements.
  • Conduct regular direct sales visits to inquiries and pre-qualified prospective clients on regional and statewide basis.
  • Research and identify prospective short-term clients on a weekly basis.
  • Negotiate and quote rental rates with prospectiveclients with approval from the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Develop bid proposals for potential clients and follow through on pending bookings.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to organizations interested in short-term rental of the facility.
  • Reports daily to the Director of Sales & Marketing information on potential sales leads and existing client relations.
  • Maintains an active role in local hospitality community and professional associations.
  • Attends in-house event-related meetings and relays immediate changes with other departments.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of increasingly responsible sales experience for an arena, convention center, sports franchise, hotel or other similar public assembly or hospitality facility, including supervisory responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in complimentary field
  • Ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Has a strong track record of building relationships and generating new business
  • Excellent organizational skills, leadership skills, customer service skills
  • Enthusiastic and positive thinker
  • Strong PC and data processing skills; working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, as well as database management software
