Sales & Operations Trainee

Weyerhaeuser is looking for TWO Sales & Operations Trainees . These positions are part of the Wood Products business which one role will be working in our Tacoma Distribution Center, and the other at our Seattle HQ. This is a Full Time, Non-Exempt position. Relocation benefits are available for this and subsequent positions. This role will report to the Area General Manager / Sales Director (whichever is applicable).

Entry level leadership developmental position. Working under close guidance with assigned mentors, this individual will be accountable for growing and strengthening their leadership skills and general business understanding of the sales and operations of a building products distribution center, and the sales of softwood dimension lumber, through a detailed 12-month development plan including hands-on learning, operational rotations, and successful completion of process improvement projects.

For Distribution, this position will have a focus on the execution of a statewide commodity sales and distribution network with emphasis on inventory management, key relationship management / development, and support.

For Lumber Sales, the position will focus on the pricing, tally management, customer development and supply chain activities required within our Softwood Lumber business.

The successful individual will be assigned to the next role once development is successfully completed and a suitable assignment is identified that meets business needs.

Key Functions:

  • Develop safety leadership skills.
  • Structured 12-month rotation through sales and operational areas of defined market with a focus on commodity dynamics.
  • Projects and assignments to promote active learning and contribute to the sales area’s successful performance.
  • Exposure to metrics, reliability, and process improvement projects
  • Training and development on selling skills, inventory management, inventory footprint analysis, supply chain and logistics / freight processes.
  • Develop Front Line Leader skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline
  • Willingness to adapt to a strong safety culture and ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and follow-through in a fast-paced results – oriented environment.
  • Strong desire to learn building material sales and distribution operations, develop leadership capabilities and progress in the organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite and other Windows-based programs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with project management
  • Capability to prioritize work activities, assignments, and demands and flexibility to adapt to changes.

Preferred skills:

  • Willingness to relocate outside of the region for position opportunities and/or cross-business development.
  • Background / prior exposure in procurement or inventory management
  • Wood products industry experience
  • Exposure to data analysis

What We Offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $55,000 to $80,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full time employees.
