We are looking for:
- A Sales Tax Specialist who will be responsible for managing the sales and use tax function across various states and jurisdictions for Solvay legal entities.
- Someone who can interact with various departments, customers, vendors, and state representatives to resolve tax issues.
We count on you for:
- Preparation and filing of US sales and use tax returns, Canadian GST returns, NJ Spill Tax returns, and other ad-hoc transaction tax returns.
- Analyzing and reconciling US and Canadian transaction tax accounts.
- Assisting in reverse use tax review and audits in various states.
- Maintaining customer exemption certificates in Vertex O-Series.
- Managing state-driven tax matrices in Vertex O-Series.
- Responding to taxability questions from plant personnel, customer service, and purchasing as needed.
- Conducting tax research and formulating independent opinions to provide tax determinations, issue vendor exemption certificates, prepare quarterly legislative updates, and defend audit positions.
- Managing and/or assisting with sales and use tax audits in various state and local jurisdictions.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in sales and use tax compliance in a multi-state environment.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
- Experience with SAP, Vertex O-Series, and Vertex Returns preferred.
- Performance objectives:
- Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and shift priorities while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Ability to identify, understand, and communicate issues, including developing process solutions.

- The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $80,539 to $100,674 per year). Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
