The Salesforce Database Administrator (SDA) is a full-time, exempt position of Denver Rescue Mission (DRM). The Salesforce Database Administrator reports directly to the Manager of Impact Data and is responsible for the performance, integrity, usability, and security groups of all development related databases, with regard to both back-end and front end functionality. In this role, the Salesforce Database Administrator will have five primary and very important duties: (a) provide the technical expertise to bring Denver Rescue Mission to the next level by enacting industry-wide best practices to all applicable databases, (b) provide training and support of all database users, (c) serve as the primary report creator for development, volunteer, salesforce, and all other applicable reporting needs, (d) manage vendor relationships and serve as the liaison with internal stakeholders, (e) project manage new database projects in conjunction with other departments throughout the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Administration

  • Manage technical performance, data integrity, and security groups of Salesforce databases. This includes ensuring the data remains consistent across the organization, data within the database is clearly defined, users access data in a form that suits their needs and works with I.T. to ensure that all backups are performed orrectly and are accessible if needed.
  • Maintains Salesforce Objects, Relationships, Flows, Users, Pages, and all other Salesforce Related configuration administration and functions.
  • Handles global changes, importing, and other global data related functions within Salesforce using Apsona and other tools.
  • Work closely with [Web Marketing Manager] to ensure proper Pardot and Classy functionality.
  • Works with Development and Finance/Admin departments to define success across all development databases and associated 3rd party software. ? Manage running data enrichment services through Omatic and other purchased software.
  • Work with Salesforce consultants and Salesforce technical support representatives to optimize the database.
  • Manage internal database related requests through Salesforce cases.
  • Maintain donor and volunteer confidentiality standards when handling personal information of Denver Rescue Mission donors and employees in the course of fundraising activities.

Internal Consulting

  • Acts as Primary Salesforce administrator, “Power-User”, and in-house expert with a special emphasis on troubleshooting, administration, and consulting. Provides support on elevated issues.
  • Provides advanced technical support to donation processing on higher level issues.
  • Provide consultation to Development to leverage data within Salesforce software according to fundraising best practices and procedures.
  • Analyze data to support strategic objectives including budget planning process and areas of focus in development.
  • Collaborate with other departments throughout DRM to formalize best practices.
  • Data Extraction and Reporting
  • Extract data for development to appropriately identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
  • Oversees the annual distribution of donor tax summaries at year end.
  • Work with accounting staff to reconcile financial information between Salesforce, Great Plains, and other accounting related software.
  • Create complex data queries, reports and exports which may be accessed and run by staff.
  • Generates queries, reports and exports as needed for Senior Leadership Team and Controller in a timely manner appropriate to the complexity of the request.
  • Assists Salesforce users with utilization and implementation of dashboard tool.

Vendor Management

  • Manage database and 3rd party software vendor relationships, software updates, contract and maintenance agreements, and payments for Salesforce’s, Classy, AQ2(Aqurit) and [Omatic Software].
  • Perform as liaison amongst external vendors as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Serves as a Lead contributor in any future selections of partners for database enhancements and integrations. Assists with the testing and implementation of said enhancements and integrations.
  • Keep up to date on all new features, enhancements and product versions of development-related databases and associated 3rd.party software and communicate with staff accordingly.
  • Coordinate the installation or revision of associated software with I.T. department.

Project Management

  • Develop and manage a process through which requests for database enhancements and/or modifications are screened and approved in coordination with SLT and all relevant stakeholders.
  • Consult and facilitate with other departments on mid-level continuous improvement and project management projects throughout the organization.
  • Provide information on project status, upcoming activities, training, scope, and timeline.
  • Maintains quality assurance of the data by serving as the primary trainer for all staff users of Salesforce and related databases on new processes, provides quality assurance testing, and establishes standard workflow and regular system checks.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA degree or higher in Business, Sales, Marketing, Fund Raising or related field or, minimum of three years of Salesforce Administration and management.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Requires skills in Salesforce, Luminate, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows, and Communication applications such as Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to work in an office environment with 75% computer, 15% administrative, and 10% telephone required.
