Position Description
As an SAP Basis Administrator, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
SAP HANA Database Maintenance and Support
- Establish database High-Performance Analytic Appliance (HANA) 2.0 Support Package Stack (SPS-5) in Red Hat Linux 8.1 version for the following Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) systems:
- Enterprise Core Component (ECC)
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Gateway
- Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
- Global Trade Services (GTS)
- Solution Manager
- Enterprise portal systems
- Regularly check for security updates and apply Linux operating system patches
- Set up and supervise HANA database replication to primary and secondary Disaster Recovery (DR) sites
- Utilize third-party backup tools for full, incremental, and log backups of the database
- Perform HANA database upgrades and patches, as required
- Monitor HANA database performance and adjust configuration parameters
- Establish and maintain HANA database transport landscape, including:
- Creating virtual HANA host names in Domain Name System (DNS)
- Adding Hypertext Transfer Protocols (HTTPs) web dispatcher entries
- Using virtual host names for HANA application lifecycle management
- Ensure correct installation of HANA systems and perform routine maintenance to keep the database in optimal condition
- Provide recommendations for necessary hardware, operating system, and database updates, as needed
SAP S4 HANA Conversion, Implementation and Support
- Strong knowledge and experience in S4 HANA readiness check on existing ECC landscape, including custom code remediation prior to conversion
- Work with Application team to set up Customer Vendor Integration (CVI) Cockpit for customer vendor integration
- Design strategy for preparing existing SAP addons and third-party addons for S4 HANA conversion
- Utilize Software Update Manager (SUM) Database Migration Option (DMO) for migrating and converting ECC running on HANA to S4 HANA
- Integrate current ECC running on HANA with Solution Manager 7.2 for technical monitoring
- Expertise in maintenance planner for calculating S4 HANA conversion patches and dependencies
- Provide regular operational support for S4 HANA system post-migration
- Experience in at least two end-to-end S4 HANA implementation or conversion projects
- Experience in integrating S4 HANA system with CRM and GRC
SAP Solution Manager Landscape Systems Implementation, Maintenance and Enhancements
- Build SAP Solution Manager systems and configure managing systems, such as ECC, CRM, SAP Gateway, GRC, GTS, and SAP Enterprise Portal
- Configure Technical Monitoring in Solution Manager for monitoring managing systems, alerting for failed scheduled jobs, and conducting routing diagnostics
- Set up Change Request Management (ChaRM) in Solution Manager for managing change requests from Development to Quality, Production, and Training systems
- Implement EarlyWatch Alert (EWA) to monitor SAP systems in the solution landscape
- Send EWA reports to SAP for receiving suggestions on critical updates and security patches
- Integrate test automation tool for evaluating changes in test systems before moving to production
- Analyze EWA reports and SAP system alerts daily for job failures, short dumps, performance issues, and system health
- Implement and maintain custom code lifecycle management module for ABAP system landscapes to improve governance and streamline upgrades and patches
Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting
- Apply performance monitoring mechanisms using SAP best methods
- Understand the object and version level of details on SAP objects to troubleshoot and identify appropriate functional and technical teams for further analysis
- Utilize the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) alert monitoring tool to proactively monitor performance and optimize system efficiency
- Analyze EWA reports and implement performance optimization measures based on the findings
- Monitor and troubleshoot long-running background jobs
- Optimize expensive Structured Query Language (SQL) statements by identifying and collaborating with the Application team
SAP Systems Refreshes, Client Copies, Application Upgrades and Patches
- Perform SAP client copies and system refreshes as part of quarterly schedules
- Implement SAP Landscape Management (LAMA) to optimize SAP client copies and post-refresh tasks
- Use SUM tool for upgrades
- Use Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM) for installations, as needed
Ongoing SAP Application Support
- Troubleshoot HTTP and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) calls to and from SAP system and external vendors
- Integrate SAP system with external systems/vendors, including certificate and key store management
- Oversee Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) configuration and integration with Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS)
- Manage and monitor content servers for various functions Document Management System (DMS) storage solutions, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Engineering, Real Estate module, Human Capital Management (HCM), Generic Object Services (GOS), and Archive Link
- Perform daily backup on content servers and monitor replication to DR site
- Install and integrate Adobe Document Services (ADS) with SAP ECC system
- Perform SAP printer configuration and troubleshoot print server integration
- Collaborate with SAP Support to create and resolve incidents
- Set up and maintain SAP routers
- Create documentation for implementation, maintenance, and enhancements
- Demonstrate knowledge of change management protocols
Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a similar field, with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
- More than 10 years of SAP BASIS (Business Application Systems Integrated Solutions) Administration experience in SAP environments
- SAP Certified Technology Associate, including System Administration, such as SAP HANA as a Database with SAP NetWeaver 7.5 or an equivalent certification
- Demonstrated experience as a technical lead on SAP BASIS projects
- Skilled in utilizing SAP HANA Cockpit and HANA Studio for system administration tasks
- Experienced in managing users and roles within SAP HANA systems
- Knowledgeable in implementing SAP HANA table management techniques such as data compression, table partitioning, and load and unload table into memory
- Proficient in HANA installation, data provisioning, administration, modeling, HANA XS(A) (High-Performance Analytic Appliance Extended Application Services) Application service, and monitoring
- Familiarity with SAP Memory Management, Buffers, Performance Tuning, and troubleshooting
- Experience with various SAP components such as SAP ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) and JAVA (Java Virtual Machine) stack systems, such as ECC, CRM, GW (Gateway), EP (Enterprise Portal), Solution Manager, BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation), GRC, GTS (Global Trade Services), TREX (Text Retrieval and Information Extraction), Web dispatcher, and SAP Router
- Understanding of infrastructure, network, and operating systems
- Proficiency in Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems, along with related utilities
- Strong troubleshooting skills with virtual and physical servers
- Knowledge of SAP protocols and standards, including EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), APPC (Advanced Program-to-Program Communication), CPI-C (Common Programming Interface for Communications), BDC (Batch Data Communication), RFC (Remote Function Call), ALE (Application Link Enabling), OLE (Object Linking and Embedding), BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface), and Archivelink
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Benefits
The base compensation range for this role is $110000 – $180000 / year for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting.
