GeoLogics is seeking a talented Satellite Systems Engineer to work with one of our national aerospace and defense clients located in Herndon, VA. This position is a full-time, 12-month contract to potential hire position. All considered applicants must have a TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance – no expectations.
PAY RATE: $44-54/hr.
WORK LOCATION: Herndon, VA
SCHEDULE: 5×40*
*This position will require periodic off-hour shifts in support of program activities as well as on-call support.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
In this role as a Satellite Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to conduct mission/program-specific operations during readiness, execution, and evaluation phases. During the initial training period, the successful candidate will learn the system and may concurrently support tools creation, data analysis, and maintenance. This position requires the completion of a formal training program and certification to perform duties.
- Develop detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics and performance analysis
- Provide technical direction for mission support and plan for critical activities
- Provide alternate operating techniques.
- Work with different organizations and sites to implement various efforts across the IC.
- Resiliency test and tactics development as well as ops development.
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- TS/SCI with CI Poly
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer supporting critical operations (or 1 year with a Master’s degree). Experience includes one or more of the following:
- System integration
- Planning
- Software testing
- System modeling or analysis
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree or higher
- Experience with astrodynamics and orbital mechanics including classical orbital (Keplerian) elements
- Understanding of Satellite maneuver tools/techniques
- STK/orbital analysis program experience
- Microsoft Office proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
- Matrix mathematics, vector analysis, and an understanding of physics
- Knowledge of feedback control and classic mechanics
- Knowledge of basic coding skills in one or more programming language
- Experience with MATLAB, SQL, HTML, Python, UNIX/Linux
- Experience establishing customer intimacy
- Problem solving, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work across sites
