WHAT THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE: Under the supervision of the Split/Cut/Grind Superintendent and department Supervisor, this position supports the Block production in all areas of Splitter, Tumbler, Crusher, Saw, Grinder, Pallet sortwrap and maintenance; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Requires reading, writing, and counting skills
- Communicates effectively with peers and management
- Must be able to read and use tape measure – basic math
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- On the job training experience is required to be able to perform essential duties
- Forklift operation is preferrable (Basalite Forklift Certification must be obtained as on the job training)
- Learn and follow all safety procedures for the equipment
- Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit.
- Working abilities may include but are not limited to:
- Mountingdismounting forklift – repetitive motion
- Lifting and placing block from pallets to conveyors and from conveyors to pallets
- Lifting and placing empty block wood pallets to and from areas of use
- Lift and toss cull (substandard) block into block dump bin
- Place and adjust block upon Saw Tables – repetitive motion
- Measure and document block dimensions – repetitive motion
- “Bag and Wrap” finished goods with polystyrene bag and stretch wrap film – repetitive motion
- Small tools wrenching with respective torque requirements (during machine set-up)
- Push broom and dump bin clean-up
- Occasionally required to bend at the waist; Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Team lift between 50-100 lbs.
- Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.
