School Community Coordinator (2 positions)

Lincoln Parks and Recreation is hiring School Community Coordinators to coordinate neighborhood-based expanded learning opportunities, social services, and community engagement at Calvert Elementary School (3709 S 46th St.) and McPhee Elementary School (820 Goodhue Blvd.). These highly collaborative positions facilitate an integrated approach to help youth succeed, families thrive, and strengthen neighborhoods. Each School Community Coordinator is supported by a Lincoln Parks and Recreation supervisor, the school principal, Lincoln Community Learning Centers (CLC) director, curriculum specialist, and community builder. Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; frequent evenings and some weekends for special events and community meetings
Nature of Work/Examples of Work Performed
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop an annual plan and implement programs

Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers

Supervise daily operations including before and after school programs for children in grades K-5, summer programs, and family and community engagement

Manage records and data as required by grant funding and to evaluate effectiveness of programs

Promote programs and coordinate registration

Ensure maintenance of equipment and spaces used for programs and purchase supplies and equipment
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience
Considerable knowledge of sociological, behavioral, and cultural aspects of children and families experiencing poverty. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, schedule, organize and evaluate a wide variety of programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, program participants, school administrators, volunteers, community groups, staff, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by college-level coursework in recreation, physical education or related field plus six months of experience working with people in all age groups in a recreational setting involving program and staff supervision; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.

To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.

Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
