Job Summary
If you take pride in cleanliness, organization and safety then you may be a fit to work in our Whitestone Day School as a part of the QSAC team! The School Custodian is responsible for upholding the safety and appearance of the physical school location in Whitestone, Queens.
This is a Full Time (FT) School Custodian opportunity.
The salary range for this position is $16-$17 an hour.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Building Maintenance
- Adhere to building/maintenance/codes to ensure health, safety & welfare of facilities, individual and employees
- Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities, completing assigned checklists that include daily, weekly, and monthly detail
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and use responsibly
- Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and supplies to protect from damage and theft
- Complete projects including moving furniture, deliveries, painting, plastering, etc. in an efficient and timely manner.
- Responsibilities include, but limited to, cleaning bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors, Hygienic cleaning, and garbage collection and removal.
Policies & Communication
- Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine best way to fix problems and communicate delays or emergency reassignments to supervisor
- Respond promptly to program needs throughout facility
- Identify problems in the facility and inform supervisor as soon as they are discovered
- Work independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities
- Prioritize work to complete time sensitive issues first
- Report to work for snow removal as needed
- Maintain family and individual confidentiality
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management
Qualifications & Work Experience
- High school diploma/GED, required
- Must have 1-2 years’ general maintenance and facility cleaning skills
- Requires the ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others
- Attendance and punctuality is essential
- Collaboration and flexibility is expected
- Commitment to company values and adherence to policies
