The Opportunity
The BWR Codes and Methods Manager I position is within the Core Design BWR organization in the Fuel Business Unit which is responsible for a broad range of activities including engineering code development and maintenance, topical report development, submittals, and first-of-a-kind core design and subsequent neutronics, thermal hydraulic, and safety analyses. The engineering activities are coordinated with other Framatome fuel engineering departments both locally and worldwide. This opportunity is in Richland, Washington.
What You’ll Do at Framatome
You will be responsible for leading a team of talented supervisors and engineers to help fulfill the mission of ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective BWR fuel. Your department will focus on developing, improving, and maintaining BWR Codes & Methods, including automation systems and online core monitoring systems. In addition, you will coordinate those activities with other Fuel Design engineering departments as required. Codes and Methods engineers work together with reload design and licensing analysis engineers to continue improvement and maintenance of methods and automation tools and to ensure successful delivery of fuel reload design and analysis products to BWR customers. Typical assignments include:
- Managing and leading two supervisors who are responsible for a Neutronics team and a Thermal Hydraulics team.
- Plan and organize future R&D projects, including proposals and defending ideas and development plans to senior management.
- Works interactively with customers (both internal and external), clients, and regulators to develop strong relationships.
- Plan, schedule, organize, and direct the work of the individuals in the group.
- Direct and manage supervisors to make work assignments for group members.
- Manage workflow to ensure deliverables are safe, high quality, on time, and within budget.
- Ensure working level compliance with procedures, standards, and design control process.
- Ensure application of the Codes & Methods strategies in the department.
- Providing technical oversight of group work products, facilitating resolution of technical issues with the supervisors.
- Reporting progress, identifying impediments and issues up to senior management.
- Mediating and driving to resolution of personnel conflicts.
- Participates in the creation of goals and objectives for the department.
- Monitors goals, objectives, and standards of performance for the department.
- Performing personnel reviews.
- Facilitating professional growth of group members.
- Securing new hires by determining need, processing requests, interviewing, and onboarding.

- Experience with Framatome processes, procedures and methods, including the Fuel Design culture.
- Experience with BWR technology.
- Prior experience dealing with engineering disciplines and leading projects or tasks (including but not exclusive to prior Supervisor or Management roles).
- Experience in managing, leading and developing others.
- Understanding aspects of NRC licensing as it applies to engineering methodologies.
- Experience with cross functional and cross discipline teams.
- Good time management and prioritization skills under pressure.
- Engineering experience in the nuclear industry and familiarity with required engineering quality and controls in this industry.

What You’ve Accomplished
You have completed a BS in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. You have worked in an engineering role for at least 8 years and demonstrated both a technical prowess and an ability to lead and manage.
Our total rewards package
The range of base salary for the position is between $135,000 – $183,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
