The Search and Rescue Manager is responsible to support the Outreach Ministries and efforts to end homelessness by providing hands-on oversight and leadership for the Search & Rescue (S&R) van routes and ministry to volunteers. Lead and facilitate S&R routes, train stewards, and engage volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, plan and coordinate S&R routes seven nights/week.
  • Work in partnership with Volunteer engagement to coordinate and schedule volunteer participation for all S&R routes seven nights a week.
  • Work with recovery programming to coordinate, schedule and train program residents and Cadre interns involvement in Search and Rescue.
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate S&R van outings.
  • Coordinate supply inventory for all S&R routes.
  • Work with program intake coordinators to help facilitate those we serve into SUGM recovery programming.
  • Engage in relationships with our homeless neighbors to build trust in order to provide a high level of assistance.
  • Coordinate S&R van night schedules
  • Participate in S&R van routes in all S&R areas.
  • Participate in street outreach as needed,
  • Work closely with the Outreach Administrator to establish and implement goals for Search and Rescue Ministries.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with local churches, schools, businesses and communities inviting them to enter into the fight to end homelessness, specifically through Search and Rescue Ministries.
  • Provide engaging and thoughtful orientation for S&R volunteers.
  • Provide well organized training for S&R stewards and drivers.
  • Oversee organization of S&R program materials and supplies
  • Coordinate scheduling vans for S&R each night
  • Review volunteer list and communicate to team as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly statistical and narrative reports, as required.
  • Be an informed expert in the field of homelessness in Seattle, building relationships and partnerships with local churches and schools, inviting them to enter into the fight to end homelessness.
  • Attend all Mission meetings and training sessions, as required.
  • Work effectively with colleagues throughout the Mission’s organization to achieve ministry objectives, maintaining good communication and working relationships.
  • Drive between various ministry locations as needed.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required, including but not limited to:
  • Clean driving record
  • No current suspensions or revocations
  • At least 21 years of age

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; bend, stoop or reach. Occasionally will stand, balance, twist, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
