Summary of Job
Responsible for the supervision and operation of the K.B. Willett Ice Arena when the Assistant Facility Supervisor or Facilities Supervisor is not present. Building Supervisor is responsible in all matters to the Assistant Facilities Supervisor and ultimately responsible to the Facilities Supervisor.
Position is 10 – 35 hours per week evenings and weekends
Tasks Routinely Performed
The Building Supervisor is responsible for:
All building activities on and off the ice surface.
All patrons inside the facility and entire building structure.
All employees and volunteers when Assistant Facilities Supervisors are not on duty..
Having a good understanding of the K.B. Willett employee manual.
Knowing the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) procedures and plan.
Knowing the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) procedures. (Located in Zamboni Room).
Knowing how to use the building alarm system.
Keeping a neat and clean appearance. Always wear the provided jacket when working.
Seeing the proper set-up of room and areas for scheduled activities.
Making sure the ice is resurfaced at appropriate times and keep the ice on schedule and getting groups off at scheduled time.
Keeping mobile and visible! Walk through the entire building both upstairs and downstairs and checking on patrons and staff regularly.
Knowing locker-room assignment schedules.
Making sure the daily Supervisor report is complete and accurate.
Daily cash handling of all staff and cash registers.
Clearing snow, salting entryways, and cleaning facility.
Communicating with Facilities Supervisors.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the skills, terminology, tools and materials involved in ice facility maintenance and custodial operations.
Ability to supervise and motivate the work of others.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with subordinates.
Ability to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm.
Experience or willingness to learn the operation and maintenance of a Zamboni.
Must have and be able to demonstrate good public relation skills.
Must be able to work in cold, hot, damp and loud conditions.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
Must be able to bend, twist, squat occasionally for 6-8 hours per day and be able to lift 50-100 pounds.
Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written directions.
Must be able to continuously walk or stand for 4-8 hours.
Proficient knowledge of, or willingness to learn, sharpening of both hockey and figure skates.
Must be able to efficiently operate a cash register and handle money and make change.
