Hourly Range: $13.65-$16.00/hr based on experience
Hiring Range: $13.65-$15.41 per hour

The Role:
Thompson Rivers Parks & Recreation District’s is seeking a fun and energetic individual that can help us provide a healthy, happy community through people, parks, programs and partnerships! This individual will help the Parks Department perform maintenance to parks, athletic fields, buildings, and facilities. Includes mowing, irrigation, and fertilization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Trim and fertilizes trees and shrubs
- Utilizes working tools and maintenance equipment such as: riding mowers, tractors, single -axle trucks, chippers, tree spades, chain saws, push mowers, and weed eaters
- Plants trees, shrubs, and flowers in outdoor locations
- Cleans up debris and trash from open space areas
- Manually water flower beds and grassy areas
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance on the parks, facilities and irrigation equipment
- Clean mechanical equipment
- Report any problems with fields and/or equipment to the Parks Department.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Satisfactory driving record
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and standard practices of park maintenance
- Knowledge of mechanical operation of small tractors, mowers, and park related vehicular equipment
- Knowledge of basic hand and power tools, including chippers, tree spades, chain saws, push mowers, and weed eaters
- Knowledge of safety rules, practices, and procedures
- Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment such as trucks, trailers, riding and push mowers, and tractors
- Ability to safely operation hand tools
- Ability to maintain and make minor repairs to irrigation system
- Ability to read and understand pesticide and fertilizer labels
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with supervisors, other employees and the general public.
