Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; two years of college coursework and/or related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent communication skills with a variety of ages. Leadership and problem-solving skills with both large and small groups. First aid training and CPR Certification provided. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
Duties
Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation is looking for friendly individuals who enjoy working with elementary and middle school-aged children in a fun, natural setting. Our Recreation Activity Specialist III will be responsible for the overall supervision and management of a program site, its staff, and its participants. More than just keeping kids busy, recreation is a way to learn new hobbies and skills while gaining valuable socialization at the same time. Job Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of the summer camp program.
- Work closely with the Principal Recreation Specialist in implementing scheduled activities.
- Plan appropriate group activities within the activity designations that teach or refine skills
- Prepare assigned summer camp location daily
- Organize all equipment and supplies needed for activities ahead of the scheduled activity time
- Communicate clearly to individuals and groups to explain activity steps, rules, and safety instructions to maintain an orderly activity and a safe environment
- Enforce camp rules at all times, including safety measures unique to each different activity
- Remain flexible with camp programming in the event that weather or personnel changes necessitate a change in program plans
- Assist with the daily participant check-in process.
- Responsible for safety and supervision of participants.
- Perform other work as required

Shift
Shift varies Monday – Friday; flexible hours between 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays
