Summary of Job
Skate guards shall be responsible for the daily operation and supervision of the ice surface and the immediate surrounding area during and after public skating times.
Position is 5 – 10 hours per week; evenings and weekends

Tasks Routinely Performed
THE SKATE GUARD MUST:
Be able to skate proficiently.
Enforce Ice Arena rules and regulations on the ice surface as well as the immediate surrounding area.
Ensure the safety of all skaters during public skating sessions and assist all those who need help.
Monitor the attendees that have paid to skate.
Ensure that immediate area around ice arena surface is in a clean and safe environment.
Remain on the ice or within eye contact of entire ice surface at all times except in an emergency situation.
Record all injuries on an Incident Report Form in a timely manner after attending to the patrons needs.
Follow accident procedures as stated in the K.B. Willett employee manual.
Follow universal precautions for infection control as stated in the K.B. Willett employee manual.
Enforce rule board located outside of the Skate Shop.
Enforce NO backwards skating as well as no freestyle figure skating.
Be CONSISTENT with enforcement of rules and regulations.
Carry out any other activities necessary for the effective operation of the K.B. Willett Arena.
Complete all janitorial work in the indoor ice arena.
Conduct work in a safe manner and adhere to all safety policies.
Qualifications
Ability to read/write and follow verbal and written directions.
Must be proficient in mathematics.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
Must have skating ability to enforce rink rules and effectively aide injured patrons.
Must have and be able to demonstrate good public relations skills.
Must be able to get along and work with fellow employees.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
Must be able to work in cold, damp, hot, or loud conditions.
Must be able to bend, twist, and squat occasionally for 6-8 hours per day and be able to lift 50-100 pounds.
Must be able to walk continuously or stand for 4 – 8 hours.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
Must be able to efficiently operate point of sale software and cash drawer.
Must have the ability to work unsupervised.
