About the Stage Manager BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Role:

BRIC seeks a Seasonal Stage Manager to join the festival team in early May 2023 to prepare and create an excellent artist experience, prep artist backstage areas for each performance, ensure smooth, on-time, stage/backstage operations, and handling of artist concerns.

What You’ll Do in the Role:

The Stage Manager will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Producer and Production Supervisor:

  • Assume a leadership role in maintaining communicating and keeping the team on schedule for load-in, sound checks, performances, curfew and load-out.
  • Oversee artist arrival and departure from dressing rooms and green room, serving as day-of-show contact for artists, and working with Production Supervisor on parking & vehicle needs as they arise.
  • Create and communicate show reports to festival leads.
  • Supervise/organize any artist related needs.
  • Coordinate backstage credentials with Producers.
  • Implement other stage/backstage needs.
  • Install/maintain/strike stage management office, dressing rooms, green room, and support spaces.
  • Implementation of all production schedules day-of show, working closely with the production team, Producer, and visiting artists & their teams.
  • Coordinate and oversee all artist services with Assistant Stage Manager, Hospitality Coordinator, Producer and the Artist Services Team.
  • Supervise Assistant Stage Manager & hospitality team.
  • Ensure the artist receives the highest level of hospitality and has the best possible experience.
  • Upkeep and maintain the appearance of artist greenrooms and dressing rooms and all shared spaces.
  • Attend and participate in weekly meetings with production staff to advance upcoming events.
  • Track artist needs on all advance emails and maintain communication with artist teams.
  • Order supplies/equipment for stage management operations as needed.
  • Maintain schedules and paperwork, delegating to the Assistant Stage Manager/hospitality team as needed.
  • Responsible for sourcing backstage sponsored goods and donations.

  • Experience & Qualifications: The ideal candidate is able to work under pressure and in inclement weather and has a minimum 3 years of experience as a Stage Manager in a music/performance venue or theater environment (or equivalent). Strong verbal, organizational and teamwork skills, and a professional presence required. Bilingual a plus.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven leader who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization, and provide feedback and coaching to support the achievement of goals. Highly skilled communicator and relationship builder, both individually and in large audiences or public communications.
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: This may be a parkline position overseen by BRIC, payment for this role will be made through parkline. The hourly rate for this position is $35/hour.
  • Status and location: This is a seasonal full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office. The Stage Manager is expected to be available and on site from April – September.
