About the Seasonal Volunteer Coordinator, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Role:
BRIC seeks a Seasonal Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, manage and support festival volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator position requires a proactive individual with great people management skills who can work creatively, under pressure, to successfully manage and motivate a wide variety of people. The Volunteer Coordinator will work as a team player to ensure excellent volunteer and audience experiences of a wide range of culturally diverse music, dance and multimedia performances at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park.
What You’ll Do in the Role:
The Seasonal Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Operations Manager, BCB!
- Pre-season recruitment of volunteers via web portal, events, email and social media.
- Schedule and assign 15-25 volunteers to each show throughout the season.
- Ensure all volunteers work in a safe, efficient, professional, and positive manner and create a warm and welcoming environment for attendees and coworkers.
- Handle ongoing communication with volunteers, field questions, send post-show thank you’s etc.
- Work with BRIC staff and corporations to recruit company volunteers and organize volunteer service days at the Festival.
- Organize, attend and facilitate volunteer orientation at pre-season on-site training day.
- Schedule and execute various seating set-ups and breakdowns for each show with volunteers as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Track all volunteer shifts, develop and manage the volunteer incentive program.
Day of Show Responsibilities:
- Greet and check-in all volunteers
- Lead the pre-show meeting with all volunteers
- Ensure all volunteers are at assigned locations, understand roles, and are prepared to interact with attendees
- Work with Front of House Manager and Operations Manager to ensure that venue is set up and staffed before opening
- Work with Festival Producers to plan and execute severe weather and emergency evacuation plans
- Coordinate with Sponsorship Manager to utilize Volunteers to distribute sponsor giveaways and assist in set-up and breakdown of various site needs on a show-by-show basis.

- Experience & Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal and team leadership skills. Strong verbal and organizational skills, and a professional presence required. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, organizing and delegating work to multiple teams.
- Able to work under pressure and during inclement weather. Knowledge of and experience with ADA guidelines are a plus.
- Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.
Other Things to Know:
- Compensation: The rate of pay for this position is $22 / hour plus a meal ticket provided at every show.
- Status and location: This is a seasonal non-exempt role, based at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park. The time commitment for this position is expected to be June 8 – August 26, 2023, Thursdays through Saturdays with some weekdays included. Pre and post season work is assigned as needed by the Operations Manager BCB! and is typically about 5 hours of administrative work per week, outside of the festival show schedule.
