Examples of Duties
Ice/Arena Maintenance
Wage: $12 – $13 per hour
Maintain a quality ice surface through scheduled resurfacing and other assigned ice maintenance at the Arena. Responsible for cleanliness of locker rooms, bathrooms, lobbies, bleachers as well as other assigned areas. Work as a team member to ensure the building is set and prepared for various activities and events.
Arena Attendant
Wage: $10.75 – $12 per hour
Supervise public skating, cashier, assist in keeping building clean, and assist with ice resurfacing.
Learn to Skate Lead Instructor
Wage: $14 – $18 per hour
The Learn to Skate Lead Instructor is responsible for teaching basic skating skills to children, ages 3 and older. Employees within this job classification must work very well with primary ages, have the ability to monitor the teaching skills and styles of their junior instructors, and have strong interpersonal skills to communicate with the participants’ parents. The Lead Instructor is required to ensure the program is delivered as intended by management and that it meets participant expectations. The instructor must take responsibility for all happenings within a session.
Learn to Skate Junior Instructor
Wage: $11 – $13 per hour
The Learn to Skate Junior Instructor is responsible for assisting the Lead Instructor in teaching children ages 3 and older basic skating skills. Junior Instructors must be able to help monitor participants skills.
Warming House Attendant
Wage: $11 – $12.50 per hour
Supervision of park shelters and outdoor ice rinks during the winter months. Responsible for the supervision and security of skating participants and the warming houses. Open/closing duties, light cleaning.
Typical Qualifications
Ice/Arena Maintenance
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- Valid drivers license
- Honest, responsible, hard worker
- Experience perferred, but not required – training available
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends
Arena Attendant
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Honest, responsible and hard worker
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends
Learn to Skate Lead Instructor
- Must be 18 years or older
- Knowledge of skate fundamentals
- Able to present themselves professionally and communicate appropriately with all customers and staff members
- Able to work and train on ice conditions
- Responsible for up to 10 students per session
- Follow Learn to Skate curriculum (based on US Figure Skating USA model)
- Interact with customers in welcoming and professional manner while promoting the City Arena
- Ability to evaluate participants skills and level
Learn to Skate Junior Instructor
- Must be 14 years or older
- Knowledge of skating fundamentals
- Enjoy working with children of all ages
- Ability to assist leads in teaching the Learn to Skate curriculum (based on US Figure Skating USA model)
- Ability to assist Lead Teachers in evaluating participants skills and level
Warming House Attendant
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Enjoy working with the public
- Willing to work evenings and weekends
