Description
The City of Aiken is seeking a full-time Secretary to join our Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department in the Athletics division.
Examples of Duties
- Secures and reserves facilities
- Registers participants
- Handles deposits and financial transactions
- Operates Department registration software
- Types correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other documents pertinent to the Department
- Maintains inventory of supplies
- Processes invoices
- Performs basic set-up and break down of rooms as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED and Defensive Driving certifications within six months of employment
- Two years of clerical experience (preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication with staff, customers, and vendors
- Task-oriented and organized
- Able to manage work efficiently and proactively
- Excellent customer service skills

Retirement
Full-time employees participate in the Defined Contribution 401(a) Retirement Plan. After one year of employment, the employee will begin contributing 6% to the Plan, with the City making a matching 6% contribution. Employees are fully vested after 5 years of service.
