Security Analyst II

If the answer is yes, you may be a candidate to join the Security, Health and Analytics team inside the Cloud Security organization. Our team designs, builds and operates security tools used to protect the cloud, its infrastructure, and customer’s workloads. We provide security monitoring platform and analytics, scan automation, threat detection and risk reduction for the Azure platform across wide range of physical and virtual platforms.

Our group is looking for an experienced security professional to be a Security Analyst II driving a portfolio of protection, detection and response capabilities focused on an important set of services in the Azure platform. Your work will play a key role in enhancing the security posture of some of the largest cloud services on the planet and help protect Microsoft’s customers from cybercrime.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about and skilled in using big data and advanced analytics to drive actionable insights across complex business and product engineering questions as well as to identify and resolve critical problems for our customers. We work on petabytes of data, leveraging advanced data engineering and analytics to deliver business critical insights and recommendations for engineering leadership and service teams delivering Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience
    • OR Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a vulnerability management or security data analyst role
  • 2+ years of experience with SQL or Kusto along with technical background in any of the following: Windows, Linux systems, cloud security, and Azure.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CISSP certification preferred
  • Proficient with data models, data visualization along with business intelligence and data analytic skills including scorecard and metric/KPI management.
  • Hands-on experience with industry vulnerability scanning solutions for remote endpoints, virtual machines, and web applications
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Competent in analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Dedicated communication skills with the ability to provide vision and direction in an interrupt-driven, fast-paced and culturally diverse environment.

Data Science IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.

  • Provide actionable intelligence and analytics that will make Azure cloud products and services safer
  • Being a thought leader in the security space to incubate, implement and refine ideas that will elevate our security posture
  • Translate trend analysis, variance analysis, findings, and insights to stakeholders to drive actions for a variety of vulnerability management and security monitoring scenarios
  • Communicate plans to executives and key stakeholders
  • Partner with service owners and key stakeholders to analyze the data and develop remediation plans
  • Drive feedback programs with customers.
