Summary
Under direct supervision, is responsible for general secretarial duties; prepares basic reports; maintains computerized files; and performs related duties as required
Under direction, plans, directs, and oversees the management and scheduling of security services for event operations, and activities of the Bexar County Parks and Civic Centers
Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedules and coordinates security for the parks and civic centers, adhering to policies and procedures, and standards; ensure compliance with pertinent laws, rules, regulations, and other code and compliance requirements
- Serves as a liaison and resource for security, constables and other law enforcement agencies to include Parks & Recreation administration staff
- Verifies scheduled security time is actual time worked on provided law enforcement time sheets.
- Types moderately complex letters and memos utilizing a personal computer, typewriter and/or word processor
- Maintains statistics and develops reports
- Enters and updates data in a personal computer or CRT utilizing spreadsheet or database applications
- Answers telephone, routes calls and takes messages utilizing some discretion
- Develops and maintains files
- Accesses and files information
- Opens and distributes mail
- Copies information and distributes to appropriate location
- Responds to general questions and complaints regarding department or work
- May order and maintain supplies
- Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate; and two (2) years general office experience including at least one (1) year secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must type 25 wpm with no more than 7 errors; Requires recent typing test administered by Workforce Solutions Alamo Centers. (Please attach a copy of your typing test results to your online application or fax to (210) 335-2558 by the closing date.)
- Good knowledge of office procedures; knowledge of English spelling, grammar and punctuation; knowledge of word processing, database or spreadsheet software packages
- Skill in operating a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment
- Ability to accurately enter data and file information; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees and the general public
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Constantly working in indoor conditions
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
- Occasionally moves about the office
- Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
