Security Manager (North America)

Overview:

Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, Safety and Security, will manage all Asset Protection and Security responsibilities in North America. This position will be responsible for assessing current security vulnerabilities, developing corrective actions, and implementing customized, cost-effective solutions. These solutions should dramatically mitigate APLL’s exposure to security risks, but not impede the ability of its operating facilities to meet their commitments to APLL clients.

Responsibilities:

Security Management

  • Identify, develop, implement, and maintain cost-effective security processes and asset protection measures to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure to liability in all areas
  • Manage relationships with third-party providers with intelligence regarding relevant business continuity threats and emergency response guidance
  • Direct and supervise security-related investigations in accordance with legal requirements and company policies
  • Manage third party relationships that would provide APLL with on-going, up-to-date intelligence regarding travel security and health and life safety risks in those countries relevant to the business
  • Guide site engagement with and relationship-building with local law enforcement, local government, and other local entities to help improve access to resources when security incidents arise
  • Provide and develop organizational learnings, including enterprise-wide physical security and awareness training

Security Documentation

  • Formulate reports to track investigations, physical losses, or violations of regulations, policies, and procedures related to security
  • Coordinate and perform site security risk assessments
  • Manage internally and externally contracted resources, including guard service
  • Prepare for and assess unforeseen threat developments, recommend changes in security direction and approach

Qualifications
Qualifications:

Licenses and Certifications

  • National certified training program (e.g., Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reid training)

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Level

Experience

  • General Experience
    • 10 years’ experience in law enforcement, security or asset protection.
    • 3 year’s experience conducting investigations.
  • Managerial Experience
    • Experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers (Over 3 years to 6 years)

Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office.

The typical salary range for this position is: $86,590 – $140.000.

The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, education and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.
